The elegant 59-room hotel is housed in a mansion designed by the Swiss architect Augusto Lange in 1828, and is located in the very heart of centre city, just off Nevsky Prospect. The hotel's name reminds of its Swiss origin as "Helvetia" is the ancient Latin name for Switzerland. The style and architecture of the hotel's extraordinary facade remind of old times. In combination with its quiet closed court yard and the opulent interiors in elegant Old Petersburg style, the building feels like an old private residence.

Helvetia is equipped with a special system to allow each guest to contact the main service departments of the hotel and the restaurant at any time of day. All rooms also have international phone connections. Special software employed by the hotel allows the hotel staff to make to automatic wake-up calls, register the newly arrived guests and issue invoices quickly and efficiently at any time of day.
